NDIS Funding & Claims

Can You Use Your NDIS Funding for Journey Into Self Services?

If you’re interested in services like, Root-Cause Therapy (RCT), Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP), trauma-informed programs, or coaching, you may be able to use your NDIS funding — but this will depend on your individual plan.

Because every NDIS plan is different, funding is based on your goals, support categories, and whether the service is considered reasonable and necessary by the NDIA.

What Journey Into Self Services May Be Eligible?

Some of our services may be claimable through NDIS when they are connected to functional outcomes such as emotional regulation, skill development, or independence.

This may include:

  • Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP)

  • Trauma-Informed Coaching

  • Root-Cause Therapy (RCT)

  • Nervous system regulation and emotional support programs

Important to Know Before You Book

NDIS does not automatically fund SSP, coaching, or trauma-informed services.

These supports generally need to be included in your plan under an appropriate category and connected to how they support your everyday functioning.

For example, services may be more relevant when they help you with:

  • Emotional regulation

  • Sensory support

  • Social engagement

  • Daily living skills

  • Independence

Mental Health Support vs Functional Capacity

This part can feel confusing, but it’s important.

If a service is focused purely on treating a clinical mental health condition, it may fall under the health system rather than NDIS.

However, if the support helps you build practical capacity — such as emotional regulation, sensory processing, or everyday functioning — it may be more aligned with NDIS goals.

Which NDIS Categories Might Apply?

Depending on your plan, services may fit under areas such as:

  • Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living

  • Capacity Building – Improved Social & Emotional Wellbeing

  • Other Professional Supports

Your best first step is always to check your specific plan.

How Claiming Works

How you pay for services depends on how your NDIS funding is managed.

If you’re self-managed:

You can pay directly and submit your invoice for reimbursement.

If you’re plan-managed:

Your plan manager may be able to process eligible invoices for you.

If you’re NDIA-managed:

Funding arrangements will depend on your approved supports and

provider requirements.

We Make the Process Easier

To support your claiming process, we can provide NDIS-ready invoices

with the details you may need, including:

  • Date of service

  • Type of service

What If Your Plan Doesn’t Currently Cover These Supports?

If your current plan doesn’t clearly include SSP, coaching, or trauma-informed programs, you may still have options.

You may be able to:

  • Request a plan review

  • Apply for a goal amendment

  • Speak with your NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC)

  • Provide supporting documentation

Where appropriate, we can also help by supplying documentation that explains how your chosen service may support your functional goals.

Before Getting Started

We always recommend checking your plan before booking to make sure you understand:

  • Your funding type

  • Your support categories

  • Whether your goals align with the service you’re seeking

This can help you avoid confusion and feel more confident in your next steps.

A Simple Summary

Some Journey Into Self services may be funded through NDIS when they are included in your plan and support your functional capacity, independence, or daily life goals.

Because funding decisions are individual, approval is always determined by the NDIA.

Our Goal Is to Support You Clearly

We understand that navigating NDIS can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when you’re already trying to find the right support for yourself or your child.

Our role is to help make the process clearer by offering supportive guidance, clear invoicing, and relevant documentation where appropriate.
